Sailor HighAce Neo disassembled

Recently when I cleaned my Sailor HighAce Neo I found out by accident that it is very easy to take apart, which makes cleaning a lot easier than before.

Sailor HighAce Neo disassembled

I'm putting this out there for others who might not be aware of this fact. Please note that the converter is bought separately but even it can be taken apart in no less than 5 pieces, simply by unscrewing the metal sleeve at the end.

As for the pen itself, the nib and feed come out easily by pulling. They are friction fit and also keyed so that there's only one way in which they go into the section. My nib is stained and simple scrubbing with soap didn't clean it. I just don't care so I won't bother trying with more powerful substances.

I just love a fountain pen which is easy to disassemble!

  1. Cool.  Have you tried Windex on the nib?

A lot of my pens (but few of the converters :( ) can be disassembled this similarly.  It makes cleaning them and switching colors so much easier.  My pens that don't do this (the Namiki Vanishing point and all my Pelikans stand out in this regard) are much less likely to be put into rotation.

Were you aware that the TWSBI 530 nib can come apart, too?

  2. I haven't tried Windex. I don't mind the stain because I hardly use this pen. Because the nib is so fine it only works well with dark inks such as HoD.

I believe I knew about the TWSBI but I haven't actually tried taking it apart like that. And that's mostly because I have never cleaned mine since I got it. The time for that is approaching quickly as I plan to shelf my TWSBI for a while and switch to my Lamy for a while.

  3. Wow... This is cool. Actually I am learning about fountain pens and your postings are very helpful to me. I totally agreed on your opionion about buying a converter for a cheaper fountain pen. I have a twister of Pelican which I bought with a converter for it. Later I realized that I can refill its cartridge in a simple way.
Anyway, have you ever tried to disassembled Lamy safari? Reading this post, I am just curious whether I can disassemble my Lamy. If possible, I'd love to try!

  4. Well do I have the thing for you... if you mean disassembling the converter itself...

I'd still recommend that TWSBI 580AL if you can get your hands on one. The craftsmanship on it is exquisite and you can take it apart (and service it) down to the last component.

  5. How kind you are! Thanks a lot! I thought disassembling a fountain pen would make me understand its basic structure easily. Yeah, it seems to be helpful as well for me to take a converter apart. I will try! And I have already ordered a twsbi 580. Later, I hope you recommend me a fountain pen with a vacuum filler

  6. Cool, I hope you got the AL! As for vacuum fillers, that's easy. TWSBI also makes the Vac 700.
